The
FXHood exterior Venting (Terminator) and Back Flow Kit for venting out through a side wall.
This is a exterior vent kit and back flow preventer all in one and will prevent
cold air from freezing the heat exchanger on the Bosch AquaStar Tankless Water Heaters
125FX Tankless Water Heater.
Includes a tube of GE high-temperature Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant - 10.1 fluid oz. - a $15.00 value.
A back draft preventer should be used wherever the outside temperature
can fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit for all electronic gas tankless waterheaters.
The
FXHOOD is doubled-piped so it can be installed next to
combustible material.
The face plate is 12 inches by 12 inches and the pipe is 8 inches in
diameter with the inner pipe is 4 inches in diameter.

Vent Terminal Clearance
The approved vent terminal must be installed so that flue gases will not
jeopardize people, overheat combustible structures or enter into buildings,
and so that proper clearances are maintained.
The vent terminal shall not be less than 7 feet above a public walkway.
The vent terminal shall terminate at least 3 feet above any (mechanical) air inlet within 10 feet.
- The vent terminal shall not be within a 6-foot radius from a gas meter or regulator
- The vent terminal shall be a minimum of 6 feet from any combustion air inlet
- The vent terminal shall terminate from an opening window, at least 4 feet below or 4 feet horizontally from the opening
- The vent terminal shall terminate from a door, at least 1 foot above and 4 feet horizontally from the door
- The vent terminal shall not be less than 3 feet from an adjacent building
- The vent terminal shall not be less than 1 foot above grade

Please note: Exterior vent must not be any closer than local code allows
- which for most areas is 4 feet from any opening into your home.
This means - that a vent can not be closer than 4 feet from windows that can open, doors, forced air inlet, etc.
The vent also must be a minimum of 1 foot above grade.
